By installing independent sidestream reactors in the sludge return line, we can enrich nitrifying bacteria and cultivate polyphosphate‑accumulating organisms in situ, then reintroduce them into the main biochemical tank. This approach markedly improves the system’s nitrogen and phosphorus removal performance, enabling effluent quality to consistently meet regulatory standards without, or with only minimal, external carbon sources or chemical dosing.
At the same time, we fully recognize that sludge treatment poses a significant operational challenge for municipal wastewater treatment plants. To address this, our process design incorporates inherent sludge reduction capabilities, resulting in lower sludge production compared to conventional technologies.
